Jim and Clare McGovern, devastated by the loss of their beloved two-year-old grandson, Ben, to a rare form of Leukemia, have turned their sorrow into an endeavor to save other lives.

The yearly Walking for Ben fund-raiser, donates all its proceeds to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, who is the world’s largest voluntary health organization, dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has invested more than $424 million in research. Programs like the Specialized Center of Research (SCOR), which bring together teams of scientists from different disciplines and their Translational Research Program, which fund research with a high probability of producing innovative patient treatments in an accelerated time frame, have directly contributed to many breakthrough cancer treatments.
